History Of Cupping

Cupping therapy is one of the oldest natural healing therapies in the world, and was a very popular therapy for more than 2500 years.  The exact historical origins of cupping are unclear, but there is evidence of a long-standing use of the technique in Greece, Egypt, China, Africa, Russia, and Europe. You'll see a set of cups pictured in Egyptian hieroglyphics whenever medicine or surgical procedures are mentioned. Napoleon Bonaparte and George Washington are among some famous historical figures on whom cupping was used for healing and wellness. There are many types of cupping therapy. Wet cupping, dry cupping and massage cupping, flash cupping is few examples of cupping therapy types. Acupuncturists employ cupping in their work (most often without puncturing the skin) and peer reviewed scientific research suggests that cupping certainly does stimulate the acupoints in a similar fashion to acupuncture needles. Cupping is also referred to as needless acupuncture.

The therapeutic applications of cupping have been documented through several thousand years of clinical experience. Cupping is used extensively in TCM and has now been adapted for other health-care modalities, including massage therapy and chiropractic. Massage cupping intensifies the therapeutic aspect of traditional cupping and is a highly effective tool.
